workers in the free world
“When work is a pleasure, life is a joy! When work is duty, life is slavery.”
- Maxim Gorky
Belonging to the early socialist Russia, Gorky still managed to come up with such a quote. To give him the benefit of doubt maybe it was during his exile days which he spent in mainland Europe, where he could think of workers having a choice.
Coming to think of it, i feel the workers in the capitalist economy are better off than their counterparts in the socialist regimes. The free economy worker has the freedom to choose from the various openings available, if he doesn’t find anything which keeps him interested or pays him suitably, he simply has to move on.
This freedom was rarely granted to the workers of the socialist countries, the system decided where they worked and how they worked. Also they didn’t have the option to refuse to work, doing so was considered treason and suitably punished.
This freedom to choose makes the life of the workers of the free world far more better than the socialist workers.
